The Advantech I.Q. Unlimited with BASIC and a Z80 CPU.

Hello, and welcome back to the 8-Bit Guy. In this episode, I want to show you this bizarre little computer known as the IQ Unlimited by Advantech. Now, you might be wondering “What is this company Advantech?” Well, if you turn the computer over you’ll see it was actually produced by Video Technology Electronics, otherwise known as V-Tech.” Yes, that’s the same V-Tech that has produced tons of cordless telephones, kids learning computers, baby monitors, and a variety of other things. They are also the ones that built the Laser 128, which was an Apple II clone, along with the matching Laser XT which was a PC clone. They also produced the laser line of portable computers, and even a series of proprietary desktop computers that carried the laser brand name. So, needless to say V-Tech is no stranger to making computers. But, I think this may be the strangest one they ever made. The front of the box claims it to be complete, powerful, simple, and affordable. They are also those that built th...

8-Bit Unboxing

Hey guys. So it's been about 5 months since the last unboxing, so it's certainly time to try to to another one. But, there's something I've need to say that's not entirely unboxing related, so a couple of weeks ago I did a video on Planet X3. In fact, I had about 100 boxes that I had pre-made in anticipation of that, what I didn't anticipate was 478 sales within the course of 48 hours. So, if you're taking a glance at this picture here, this And that's 150 boxes there, so actually you've got to imagine 3 times this many to similarly the whole amount of sales I had. So it took me about 12 days to truly fold more boxes, and you recognize, pack all of these things up, it had been like kick start everywhere again. And so, I apologize for the delay but, now that that's done, hopefully things are going to be getting back on target again. I even have some pretty neat videos arising then if you watch this unboxing you'll get a touch little bit of a s...

How to Reduce the Pain of Life

The nineteenth-century German philosopher Schopenhauer observed that nature is driven by an all-encompassing force, which he called Will, or more specifically, the Will-To-Live. This force is unconscious, aimless, and blind, and provides rise to an We live our lives grasping, craving, and attaching ourselves to external things, which we feed on other living organisms to perpetuate our own existence, all of which can be a manifestation of Will. Thus, the will lies at the idea of suffering, as our never-ending hunger (and our inability to satiate it) results in an ongoing pursuit of pleasure that never, ever satisfies within the top of the day. To affect the misery of life, Schopenhauer took the difficulty to construct a philosophy to help us acquire a state of happiness, which may seem slightly strange as he's such a pessimistic thinker. But almost sort of a philosopher and spiritual teacher that lived about 2,500 years ago named Buddha, Schopenhauer rigorously examined and endure...

Why We’re More Evil Than We Think | The Shadow

It looks like in current society we are excessively concerned with our self-image. But, albeit we'd think we ’ve figured ourselves out, is that this really the case? Or are we just showing the earth --and ourselves --a mere reflection who we truly are? Could it's that we are repressing certain parts of ourselves which below the surface there hides a monster which can awaken someday? First of all, many thanks Joe for you PayPal donation. and lots of thanks Edward, Sai Sai and Alexander for supporting me on Patreon. I appreciate very it much and it helps me to continue this project. Now, let's dive in. No matter where we go: we constantly define and redefine who we actually are, and at the same time we judge other people's behaviors. In society we are expected to behave in certain ways during which are socially acceptable. What percentage codes of conduct and systems of ethics can we've as a society, in workplaces, at home, in nightlife, during a restaurant, at dinner...

ARM CPU that runs BASIC

Back in 2018 the color Maximize computer. This was basically a PIC32 microcontroller with an OS that allowed you to connect up a monitor and keyboard and program it directly in BASIC. It was actually pretty darned fast, as I made a comparison between drawing lines on a Commodore 8-bit computer versus on the color Maximize. Which I also wrote my very own version of Tetris for it. But now there is a replacement version, called The color Maximize 2. Debug live already did a superb video showcasing what the new one can do. But, I assumed I'd provide you with my impressions also and maybe fill during a number of the gaps.  First of all, I'd wish to say variety of the upgrades over the last version. First and foremost, let me take this thing apart and I'll show you the board. Gone is that the PIC32 microcontroller and now we've an ARM Cortex M7 running at 480 mhz. This CPU is capable of executing 270,000 lines of BASIC code every second. This thing can literally run interpret...

The first PC portable computer with color screen

Hello. I'm currently on a road trip to select up a stimulating piece of computer history. I got an email recently from a man named Matt who said he had acquired an early personal computer that features a color screen. So, I searched the pc online And saw that it came call at 1982. That struck me as very interesting since I've always been told the Commodore SX-64 was the primary portable with a color screen which came out around 1984, I believe. Matt lives within the village of Brownwood, TX, and I'll be coming from Ft. Worth Texas. It's a reasonably long drive, so we agreed to satisfy within the middle during a town called Stephenville, TX. This is a touch of a stimulating, or different road trip on behalf of me because normally once I continue a road trip, I'm taking place interstate highways, and you recognize the regulation is typically pretty constant around 70 miles per hour or something like that. This is often a rural highway, then it's quite weird becaus...
