Smartphone Durability Awards

Smartphone Durability Awards 2018! Alright! Today it’s time for the 2018 smartphone durability awards. I’ve tested quite a few phones this year, and most phones survived my durability test. There were a few that didn’t, like this iPad Pro didn’t quite make it. Now you might correlate Jerry Rig everything with cellphone destruction, probably because of the sound of my razor blade that is etched in your brain. But actually, just about every single one among these smartphones survived my durability test. Most of these phones are alive even after the durability test and the teardown. In fact, about 40,000,000 people watch my teardown videos, the repair videos, to learn So smartphone build quality is improving, and that I hope my videos have a touch something possible, because that’s the goal. This year we only had one phone fail completely, and one tablet, but were just talking about phones this time around. Last year we had 2 phones fail. And the year before we had 3. So smartphone build ...

Modding a consumer TV to use RGB

Hello and welcome back to the 8-Bit Guy. So, I’m sure you guys have seen this little TV in a lot of my episodes. I’ve been using it for years, and I’ve actually had this in my possession since 1997. I have a touch story to inform you that. I was actually working at AST computer. I worked in the tech support department and I actually have a lot of stories about that. And I actually hope to compile some of those little anecdotes for a video at some point. But, one among the items that really happened around 1997 is that AST was having some financial problems and that they were actually being bought out by Samsung. And, one among the items Samsung wanted to try to assist enlist the trust of all their newly acquired employees was to offer all of them a present. And, we had the choice of receiving either a touch TV like this one, or a VCR, or a microwave oven. I actually opted for the TV. And it’s actually been a very fantastic little TV. Now, I would like to means that once I first receive...

Brother WP25 and Panasonic W1525

Hello and welcome back! What I even have here are two vintage word processors. Now, what these are meant to be is kind of an upgrade from the normal family typewriter. But, what they really are is, they're all-in-one computers that are portable and that they have printers built into them also. And that they were really marketed towards people that had tons of typing to try to, but they didn't want to use a computer, either because they didn't have the space for a full computer setup and Now, this Panasonic unit here was made in 1992. Now, I do know this because it's written right the rear.  This Brother unit here may be I'm not entirely sure on the date. That's during all one in every of one among the items we're getting to find out here in a bit. Now, this one is extremely almost like the one that has been shown a couple of times on the TV series The Goldberg's. No, put away the word processing system, I’m not writing my college essay! The main differen...

Nintendo NES Classic Alternatives and clones

I've been trying to urge my hands on an NES Classic for the last 6 months, but I've refused to pay the many dollars that they're selling for on eBay by scalpers. So, I figured I might just wait until Nintendo But, now I'm being told that they've actually canceled the NES classic, which there'll be no more production of it. So, I assumed it had been time to seem into, you Know, maybe a number of the alternatives. Now, of course, you'll accompany the first NES, like this one. They're not hard to seek out. There's many them out there.  But they are doing tend to truly cost quite bit lately and that they do have some maintenance issues, plus you've got to gather the particular physical hardware cartridges. EBay and amazon are just suffering from aftermarket consoles, so I made a decision to select up a couple of them to seem at . the primary one I'm getting to show you here is named the 8-Bit computer game System. This was the most cost effective...

The Advantech I.Q. Unlimited with BASIC and a Z80 CPU.

Hello, and welcome back to the 8-Bit Guy. In this episode, I want to show you this bizarre little computer known as the IQ Unlimited by Advantech. Now, you might be wondering “What is this company Advantech?” Well, if you turn the computer over you’ll see it was actually produced by Video Technology Electronics, otherwise known as V-Tech.” Yes, that’s the same V-Tech that has produced tons of cordless telephones, kids learning computers, baby monitors, and a variety of other things. They are also the ones that built the Laser 128, which was an Apple II clone, along with the matching Laser XT which was a PC clone. They also produced the laser line of portable computers, and even a series of proprietary desktop computers that carried the laser brand name. So, needless to say V-Tech is no stranger to making computers. But, I think this may be the strangest one they ever made. The front of the box claims it to be complete, powerful, simple, and affordable. They are also those that built th...
