iPad Pro - Unboxing, Setup and First Look

Hi everyone Aaron here for ZolloTech and this is the 12 point 9 inch iPad pro this is the 256 gigabyte model so that means this is $1149 pretty expensive and then I also have the smart Keyboard folio well take a look at and the new Apple pencil now let’s go ahead and open this up and this goes all the way up to a terabyte and you can spend about $2,000 for an iPad pro now so I’m hoping that means Apple has some big plans for iOS 13 so let me set these over to the side until we get to those and lets open this up lets set this aside and I’ve been using a 12.9 iPad pro the original first gen 4 well since it came out and I’ve been looking forward to getting a new one it doesn’t have pro motion on it and this does so well take a little bit closer look at this in an moment let’s see what we get in the box so we’ve got our USB see now that this is USB C so USB C to USB C and then we’ve got a new wall adapter that’s a little bit different so this one let’s take this cover off of it here this one let’s see if we can see how many watts it is now I actually zoomed in to this and it doesn’t really say but I think its somewhere around 30 well take a closer look at that in a bit but let’s set these aside since I’m going to use these so move this let’s take a look at what we’ve got inside here and so we’ve got our literature.

iPad Pro, Unboxing, Setup, First Look
If its talking about face ID since we have that now nothing else now this is the Wi-Fi model if I didn’t mention that before and we do have some stickers in here I was wondering if we did or not see there’s some larger Apple stickers so let’s put this away and take a closer look so here’s the plug you could charge an iPhone with this if you had the right plug of course or the right adapter let’s take this off here and this of course is in space gray so you can see its just all glass twelve point nine inch and before we turn it on let’s compare it to the old one just to see what it looks like so next to it you’ll see there’s the older twelve point nine inch its quite a bit smaller it’s a little bit thinner and see if we can do this you’ll see it’s a little bit thinner a little bit narrower and shorter and I really like this design so let me set the iPad aside and I really like this design it’s much more like the iPhone 5 which is one of my favorites so well turn it on there but on the bottom you’ll see USBC we have our speakers we’ve got our little pen or pencil charge port here volume up and down more speakers here some microphones power sleep-wake and it looks like another microphone here now on the back we have our pogo pins connector that’s for the keyboard and then we have our camera with microphone and LED flash so let’s turn it around here see if it turns on I don’t know why I hasn’t there we go and this is a 120 Hertz pro motion display so well get this set up and then well take a look at the accessories now this has the a 12 X processor in it so let’s take a look at this will swipe up quick start if you have an iPhone or iPad running iOS 11 or later I’m going to set that up with the old iPad so here’s the 12.9 its immediately asking me to set it up its going to connect and then saw to be a little interesting with these giant iPads but see what we can do here it’s going to set it up activate it and this isn’t the cellular version it’s the Wi-Fi version and this is the new Retina display it’s a little weird that these corners are not exactly met up if you see what I mean or not the same angle as these here so that’s a little bit different but data and privacy tap continue well move this one aside and this is where we set up face ID so well hit continue face ID is set up will it continue setting up your Apple ID so now we can restore from a backup will it continue.

iPad Pro, Unboxing, Setup, First Look
I’ll set Apple pay up later and then there’s Siri so Siri is ready and setup I continue app analytics true tone you can see with or without its very blue without now it’s going to restore from iCloud and this could take a little while so now I would like to see this design come to iPhone I really miss these curved edges or sharpened edges rather as opposed to the curved edges while were waiting for that to restore let’s take a look at the pencil now this pencil will not work with any other iPad pro and neither will the older iPad pro pencil work with this one so the first gen is for the last generation iPads and this one is for this it’s up about a hundred and thirty dollars now so I’ll open it up here and there’s the pencil itself let’s see what we’ve gotten here so just a little information guide again or literature and some warranty information so here’s the new pencil lets go ahead and unwrap it and it’s got a matte finish to it which I hit read about or heard others say about it says pencil there and its flat on the one side the tip seems about the same but if there’s a little bit smaller let’s bring that back on yeah it is a little bit smaller you’ll see its shorter you don’t have this goofy charging anymore now it charges through the port or the magnetic port on the top so well take a look at that in a moment - or I guess it’s not really a port it’s just a wireless charger and were still waiting for it now this clicks on to the side looks like it clicks on to this side over here just like that so its magnetic it’s a good firm grip actually and while we wait for that lets take a look at the smart Keyboard folio so it looks like this also lifts off like the other boxes there we go now this is $200 and it’s a pretty expensive folio keyboard flip it over here and it’s just got a little slot for documentation here on the side and it says iPad pro smart keyboard folio and then that’s it shows you how to install it so well close this move this aside swipe up to unlock it says so tap the screen swipe up to unlock well have to put in the passcode the first time restore completed will it continue and it will take a moment to set up your Apple ID so you’ll see this here is the smart folio and it fits around it nicely and it’s the same cloth keyboard that we had before only it adheres a little bit differently to the back well take a little bit closer look at that in just a moment so its talking about screen time now well hit continue its telling us how to navigate go home use Siri and welcome to your iPad so that was the wallpaper I had set before let’s take a look at what wallpapers we have now and the wallpapers included are supposed to be a little different yeah we’ve got a bunch of different more abstract wallpaper so let’s try this one for now I guess and there we go.

So if I lock it turn it to the side its already known its rotated its saying if I block the face ID scanner and swipe up well try that again its saying face ID your thumbs in the way kind of let’s try it again and its unlocked so it actually works pretty well at an angle now it’s probably showing me I’m going to have an update but let’s see what version we have on this so this has 12.1 on it so it’s already pre-loaded we should be good to go and like I said its the 256 gigabyte model now if we take the Apple pencil off put it back on it hops in and says that it’s probably pairing saying connect continue there’s a double tap on it and that’s it so now we can just use it if we click it in place its saying Apple pencils 67% in charging let me show you that one more time it’s kind of a nice little animation there and back and forth just like you’d expect from an Apple pencil should work just fine and it’s going to take a while to restore all of these things but I really like the display here let’s take a look at the folio so the cameras in the upper right here just clicks into place like that it looks like and now we have the keyboard so we can use the same Mac commands there’s no battery power or anything and it’s something I find I use all the time when I’m actually just using this around the house so I can go upright like that or go a little bit more tilted I don’t know that I’ll use the upright one I’ll probably use the tilted one more often and that’s a pretty good angle now one thing that’s kind of uh NAPA like is when its clicked into place and you want to hold it like this you get the keyboard on the back so that’s not something we normally see from Apple like that and unfortunately that’s the way it is but it does stick out enough that it keeps the camera bum safe so now that we are using it like this let’s see if we can open it it’s a little bit flimsy there and it saw my face and immediately unlocked so that parts really nice and then if we click the pencil in place it should just charge and then we can use it as needed now the main thing for me with this is.

iPad Pro, Unboxing, Setup, First Look
I’m looking really forward to the day maybe we have final cut on here I know there’s lama fusion and things like that and I may use that from time to time you’ll see its installing right there but I’m really looking forward to maybe a Final Cut Pro and what’s coming with iOS 13 but before I do anything even though this is installing a bunch of things right now let’s see if we can get Geek bench in and just take a look at it because this is supposed to be an incredibly fast processor now one thing to know is the smoothness of this displays is crazy smooth just like the other promotion display and I see this being the future of the Mac but I’m not sure what they’re going to do with it without a track pad and a mouse you can’t pair them or anything like that right now so for the price I don’t know if this will suit everybody plus you need a dongle which I actually purchased one today I know I can get others on Amazon cheaper but this is a $40.00 USB c2 SD card reader now it is a faster SD card reader but that’s so you can plug things in here and read SD cards and import them and import footage from your videos and photos but we’ll see well see if we have something coming in the future with iOS 13 I certainly hope so now while I wait for Geek bench to install we’ve got the gestures here everything comes back so just swipe up we’ve got that we tap or we swipe up a little bit there’s the gestures are a little bit confusing.

They’re not heard of course but a little confusing so here’s Apples website we want to bring something else in its a slight swipe up then we can bring something else in so maybe you want to bring in the App Store here we can do that and then its lit out and slid back in so that parts nice and then we can move this around just like you’d expect but I’m hoping for something a little bit more powerful as far as apps go later on Geek bench finally stopped loading now everything else is loading and using storage in the background and things but let’s run it anyway and see what we get so it’s finished with the Geek bench and these scores are pretty incredible sixteen thousand to fifty five and five thousand fifty one and that is it not really being utilized fully because its installing all these apps and doing background activities so that’s pretty impressive I’m not sure what it would be after that probably an little bit higher at least and I think that’s impressive but let me know what you think about the iPad pro I know a lot of people were really interested in this and I definitely am I’ve been really looking forward to this I don’t like the price of it but I think it’s a great machine that’s fully under utilized but if there’s anything you want to see in the full review let me know in the comments below if there’s something you’re not finding anywhere else or something I can help with I’d love to help you out Ill link some of these wallpapers in the description below also so you can check them out on your phone or iPad that you have currently if you haven’t subscribed already please subscribe and like as always thanks for watching this is Aaron I’ll see you next time.

The AdLib Gold Experience

Greetings folks, and today on LGR I am proud to present the fabled AdLib Gold 1000 Stereo Sound Adapter. An IBM PC-compatible sound card which, after multiple delays, launched at a suggested price of $299 in the US sometime in late 1992. More or less, its release is a bit complicated but we’ll get to that. For now lemme just go ahead and say how much I’m freak in’ out with excitement recording this footage. Cuz dude, seeing an AdLib Gold in person, still in the box, unused? Among retro PC enthusiasts, that’s like finding a golden unicorn that craps diamonds, it’s just not a thing. Yet here it is, looking’ spiffy! And it’s all thanks to Trixter, aka Jim Leonard of The Old-school PC, Check out his YouTube channel if you’re into this kind of thing too, the man’s a fountain of knowledge and some of the items in his collection are literally one of a kind. Not the least of which being this pristine AdLib Gold 1000, a card that I’ve been wondering about ever since I was eight years old lookin...

Apple Keyboard Evolution 1983-2015

I don’t have a Lisa Keyboard, and they’re quite rare and expensive. But here’s what it looked like, it was quite large and clunky. Although not really any wider than a modern Apple keyboard . So, this is the original Macintosh keyboard. It’s kind of tall, and notice that it has no arrow keys, no function keys and no number pad. Apparently, Steve Jobs believed that everybody would use the mouse for everything, except typing. It uses an RJ-11 type connector, similar to a phone cord. The mouse actually had its own separate connector, and did not connect to the keyboard at all. This is about as basic as it gets. I can plug my telephone into it, for some reason. So, one thing I noticed about this is that there are no indicators on where to put your fingers. I’ve never heard a keyboard echo before. It’s not real springy or anything. It does have… …metallic kind of noise to it. But, DAVID: This is the Apple Desktop Bus keyboard. As the name suggests, this was the first keyboard to use the new...

IBM 8516 Touchscreen CRT Monitor

Greetings and welcome to LGR Oddware where were taking a look at hardware and software that is odd, forgotten, and obsolete! And today it is the IBM 8516 CRT touchscreen from the beginning of the 1990s. And yeah you can touch and draw and do all kinds of things that you would normally do with a mouse or light pen or whatever else -- just with your fingers! And so let’s see what this thing is and what it can do. All right so this is the IBM PS/2 Model 8516 13-inch CRT touchscreen monitor first introduced in June of 1991 for a suggested retail price of $1695 US dollars, holy crap. That would be almost $3,100 at the time of this recording, not a cheap price for a 13-inch VGA monitor back then.  It was built by IBM to be compatible with PCs running DOS, Windows 3 -- and IBM OS/2 of course, because they were still pushing it rather hard when this came out. And as advanced and awesome as it was for its time it was not the first of its kind as far as touchscreen CRTs, not by a long shot....

The best gaming laptop for MS-DOS games

The other day, I used to be reading this old Computes Gazette magazine from 1983. and that I saw this card you'll send off for more information. happen if I filled it out and sent it off? Well, stick around till the top and I'll show you the result. Most of the time, stepping into Retro Gaming are often quite challenge. Even the old Atari 2600 her, for instance, it are often very challenging to seek out a contemporary TV or monitor that you simply. On the brilliant side, the games are pretty easy to affect. All you've got to try to to is locate them online, or thrift shop, or whatever and you purchase the sport, and you recognize, But, things get even harder once you start watching old computers. For instance, the Commodore 64 uses a disk format that's essentially foreign today.  It's no means to attach to the web, and albeit you've got a pile of blank disks, getting the games copied over to them from the web could be a nightmare. Now, if you fast forward just a...

Strangest Computer Designs of the '80s

OMG Mr. LGR!!! You made my day showing the Seiko computer watch series. I collect these things and Have almost  the entire lineup up including the weird UC-2200. The only one I'm missing is the "wrist mac" which was essentially a Seiko RC4400 but marketed and sold for Apple. It could be considered the first apple watch! That design for the Elwro-800 actually seems pretty good and I wish I had it for the C64 back in the day. That wire holder could have been used for holding a computer magazine with a user made program which they always had in the magazines back in the day. Even now it would be good for data input from a written copy, or even writers who like to get their pre-writing done on paper. They were the machines we were taught Turing language on -- and compiling even a tiny Turing program on them was unbelievably slow.  I really liked the GUI on them though, but we never really used the GUI much; all the programming we did was in a text file run through a compiler ...

The Advantech I.Q. Unlimited with BASIC and a Z80 CPU.

Hello, and welcome back to the 8-Bit Guy. In this episode, I want to show you this bizarre little computer known as the IQ Unlimited by Advantech. Now, you might be wondering “What is this company Advantech?” Well, if you turn the computer over you’ll see it was actually produced by Video Technology Electronics, otherwise known as V-Tech.” Yes, that’s the same V-Tech that has produced tons of cordless telephones, kids learning computers, baby monitors, and a variety of other things. They are also the ones that built the Laser 128, which was an Apple II clone, along with the matching Laser XT which was a PC clone. They also produced the laser line of portable computers, and even a series of proprietary desktop computers that carried the laser brand name. So, needless to say V-Tech is no stranger to making computers. But, I think this may be the strangest one they ever made. The front of the box claims it to be complete, powerful, simple, and affordable. They are also those that built th...

Words of Krom Ngoy

Words of Kram Ngoy This Brahma song is translated to tell Khmer men and women To be mindful should be diligent. Do not be lazy, do not be too stupid, try to learn numbers, learn the alphabet Learn all the virtues, supernatural wisdom combined with ideas. Born to see through, even from afar           Really good at thinking about everything. Fools do not wake up like blind people on both sides           There is no image of a cheap sinner born ignorant. The human race, though high and low, descended from the Pao clan.           Evil, good, black and white, cut off descendants like ancestors. Ignorant people are not venerated as a religion           The monks know the Dharma, the students study hard. The ignorant breed is not very wise, the crooked breed is not very gentle           Straight seed until the true seed does not disappear. Innoc...

Fast roaming OpenWrt Wi-Fi Access points

Before we start let me do a test. I have my  phone here which measures my Wi-Fi speed and  another phone which I use as a camera in  the other hand. I start on the 2nd floor  where I have an access point. As you can see speed  is quite OK. It won’t go much higher because I  capped it. I’ll explain in a second. Let me start  moving towards the staircase to the 1st floor.  As I do that you can see that the speed goes  down while I walk down the stairs until it starts  moving back up because I picked up the signal  from the 2nd access point here on the first floor.  Let me keep moving down to the basement. It’s  all concrete here so Wi-Fi gets weakened a lot.   But it doesn’t take long until I  get closer to the 3rd access point  here in the basement and speed picks up.  Walking back upstairs - same scenario.  How do I do that so seamlessly without  interruption of signal ? Is it a  Mes...

Will Kill Your Computer

Hey guys, this is Austin, and this is the USB Killer. Now, it might not look like much, however this will straight up kill your computer. So, this is a device that’s used to test hardware, so while it looks like an ordinary USB device, instead, there’s a series of capacitors inside. So, if you plug it into a computer, it will charge those capacitors up, and once they’re full it turns around and releases all of that power at 240 volts straight back into the computer, in theory killing it. It doesn’t take much to be able to pop this thing open. Now, before we proceed: Do not try this at home. Seriously. Not only is it very possible for this thing to kill electronics, but it’s also. And by being careful, I mean don’t try this at home. We have an Asus Chrome book.  Now, USB Killer claims that this is going to work on around 95 percent of computers, and the reason for that is that while some computers have properly capped USB ports, most have completely unprotected ports, which means th...
