I’ve given my life to Jesus now what I’ll keep it real this is a challenging topic for me to speak on and this is because I am still living this message that I’m here to share but you know what actually as I just said that um though I’m also realizing that this journey of life really isn’t a destination type of vibe in a sense that we get to a certain place and we’ve made it now so long as we have breath in our lungs by god’s grace it’s actually a continuous journey and there are obstacles and hurdles along the way and we jump over one hurdle on to the next on to the next et cetera but the great thing is that we dent have to do this journey of life alone anyways um okay let me not digress um so to be honest uh you know as i was preparing this topic.
I really felt really and truly like I wanted someone else who is more qualified than me to speak on this because I almost felt like I didn’t have much value to add on this topic in comparison to maybe someone who may have been on their journey for a lot longer than me but the truth is you know the question of I’ve given my life to Jesus now what isn’t only applicable to people who may have given their lives to god a few days ago or maybe a few weeks ago nah I’m convinced that this is also applicable to us who’ve been walking this Christian journey no matter the duration so uh the other day I was on the phone to a close friend and she was praying for me and it was so beautiful and I started crying because her prayers were really heartfelt um anyways after our phone call I decided that I wanted to read my bible.
So I went on the bible app and I just typed in the word marathon and I find it and I found a bible plan called running the race to win now within that bible plan I read Galatians 2 19 to 21. for requirements so that I might live for god my old self has been crucified with Christ it no longer it’s no longer I who live but Christ lives in me so I live in this earthly body by trusting in the so you know after reading this and doing a mini study aka digging deeper into the meaning of the scriptures through cross-referencing and using a bible study tool that I use called e-sword I was immediately reminded of the fact that I as in Ayo must let go of doing the works or good things in my strength that’s when the penny dropped little dropped um and again to repeat myself.
I we are supposed to let go of doing the work of pleasing god in our own strength and also let go of this idea that we feel it’s our performance or even religious duties such as reading the bible or um just so that you know god won’t be mad at us and maybe um you know we hope that well also get brownie points from god because this is a reality for a lot of us though right so in my mind I’m sometimes guilty and have it set such that I’m doing the works I often forget that Jesus did the work and am saved by believing in him as the son of god dying for my sins now I won’t go into too much depth on that point because I don’t want to pretend in all honesty that I have that revelation all figured out in its entirety nonetheless the good news is that someone called Michael Todd who leads who’s the lead pastor of um transformation church shares a really good message on the point and he gives us insight into the fact that um once we give our lives to Christ that that god sees us through the lens of his son and not actually um through us trying to earn his approval.
So you know I’ve left the link to that message in the description box down below so I really just came to transparently share and perhaps just like you I am still on this journey aka the marathon of understanding that the best thing I can do to fully understand the now what part after giving my life to Jesus is digging deeper through bible study community and even mentorship into who Jesus actually is what he did on our behalf like for you and I and why it’s so significant because without that revelation um and consistent reminders we literally will continue to feel like we need to do things in our own strength and really and truly were only seen as righteous by god through the lens of Jesus not in our own strength so the first act of the Christian life is really to receive Christ and every moment afterwards were actually supposed to continue receiving him the key word being continue which means to persist you know inactivity or process this act really ought to become an attitude and this my friends is a journey for us all.
So if you are watching this video though and maybe you haven’t actually you know dedicated your life to Christ or you’ve been toiling with the idea and not made the commitment then please do check out the video um what is prayer and why is it so why is it so important video here on this um YouTube channel where we just declare the prayer of salvation together so yeah um one of the key takeaways from this video is we all need to make the decision to be intentional with our daily devotions with god and actually remind ourselves of the true life that we have through Jesus because we stay forgetting these things right its innate in our human nature and that’s motivation for consistency and studying and reminding ourselves of god’s word because whatever we focus on in this life is what is magnified so in a nutshell we say with our words and our actions that were letting god lead versus us leading and as we begin to wrap up this video.
I’d really like to share that here on the Ayo Awotona YouTube channel we really do care about you and desire for you to prior primarily build a closer relationship with god no matter where it is that you are on your journey and if you’re not already please do mention that I am the author of a young woman’s guide to seeking god and it is now available as an audio book on amazon and on audible so simply put this audio book is one hour 42 minutes in length and it really does present some you know practical steps to help you on your faith journey and it also speaks to the challenge of finding it difficult to live your best life whilst also having a deep relationship with god Abba father if that’s you. You’re not alone because now more than ever many of us young women want to know what it means to choose our heavenly father in the midst of everyday life and distractions you know and just challenges you know so um if you haven’t made the investment already it’s definitely one to consider or better still make this decision to invest in your spiritual growth today so we are stopping here for this week’s video we would love to know what your biggest takeaway from this video has been so please do.
