iPhone 12 and iPhone 12 Pro Leather Cases with MagSafe

Hi everyone,

These are  the brand new leather cases from apple they come  in at 59 and they’re available for the iphone 12  mini iphone 12 iphone 12 pro and iphone 12 pro max  they’re all available in these exact same colors  so what we have is California poppy saddle brown  Baltic blue black and product red and so let’s  go ahead and take a look at them I also have the  iphone leather wallet that comes in at the same  price 59 so well take a look at them see how  they charge see how they protect so let’s first  open up this California poppy so you can see that  here lets open it up and well take this out of  the box and see what we’ve got no wrapping on here  let’s see what kind of paperwork we have nothing  special and we just have some warranty cards we  won’t look at this in any of the other box or  boxes here and just a little bit of information  no apple stickers so this is the case itself  and it has a nice feel to it before we go around  the outside edge lets open the others  so this is the saddle brown like I said.

These are a little bit hard to open  there’s no wrapper around them or anything saddle brown well move over to Baltic blue I imagine this one  will look really nice with the new pacific blue  or maybe just the regular blue iphone  12 but it will work on either one go to black here and I think that yes they just call it black so no  different name or anything like that and one more  red these are the only colors they offer currently  now they usually change these seasonally so maybe   well get some in the spring of next year and  again red or product red that’s a very vibrant red  so let’s set those aside and take a closer look  at the cases so the cases as you can see them  here I think they all look really good they have  a very soft feel to them they’re really nice.

iPhone 12 and iPhone 12 Pro Leather Cases with MagSafe
You also have it looks like metal buttons like  we’ve had before so you have a metal power button  on the bottom it is covered so just like this  your silicon cases or silicone cases rather  it has a covering but instead of having the little  holes punched out it has a little opening cut out  for the leather and then on this side again we get  metal buttons which is really nice well try them  out in a moment an opening for your silent switch  an opening for the camera with a plastic  rim around it just like the silicone cases and  then also a mag magsafe magnet in here as well  now there’s been some stories saying that  it will wear into the back of the leather  I’m sure that will happen the leather will wear  over time and sort of get a patina on it and I  expect that if you’re using bag safe as well now  let’s take a closer look at the magnets then well  put it on the phone and take a look at it there.

So here is some magnet paper well just put it  over the different cases you’ll see as I move it  back and forth you can see where the magnets are  aligned so just like everything before we’ve got  a magnet here to hold on to magsafe and then also  this bottom magnet is for alignment so you use  that for alignment with probably the leather  wallet like I said well take a look at in a  moment so those are the magnets lets go ahead  and attach magsafe see how well it holds on their  it’s on their pretty good about the same as it is  with an iphone so that’s nice and then like  I said the case feels fairly nice its soft  premium and it has a microfiber lining inside let  me go ahead and put it on the iphone 12 pro here in blue so it’s a little bit of a clash of color  there but again you’ve got a nice cut out for  everything on the bottom with protection  all the way around which is always nice  now let’s take this one off and let’s try  blue on here so this is blue with pacific  blue I think it matches nicely and then I also  have an iphone 12 in blue so let’s try that one.

and see what it looks like so here’s an iphone  12 so I think this Baltic blue goes better with  pacific blue but either way you pick what  you like lets go ahead and set that aside  so well put the blue one back on and again we  have a nice cut out here and when you put it on  you’ll get sort of a notification that you’re  putting the case on for each color so let me show  you that see if I can dismiss some things here  there we go put this on and you’ll see it’s got a  blue background to sort of match let me show you  with red so you can see it a little bit closer  put red on here and now we’ve got red so it will  do that with every single color you put this on  so again lets switch back to blue and  take a closer look so the buttons they’re nice and  clicky they were a little bit mushy with the clear  case so I’ve been using the clear case and with  the clear case the buttons are very mushy here.

They feel very clicky which is always nice and the  volume buttons are clicky so it feels like a much  more premium case and apparently I’m taking photos  now too but it feels like a much more premium case  and it should be its sixty dollars or so  fifty nine dollars and it is a little bit  challenging to get in here and flip the silent  switch so if you have big fingers like me that  is a little bit challenging but let’s see if we  can charge it with magsafe shouldn’t be a problem there we go and if were at the  home screen well put this on and there we go so you’ll see the animation it  works fine let’s try it with a non-magsafe charger  should work just fine but here I have a ravpower  charger just a cheap one as well and there we go its charging  so it will charge with any wireless qi charger of  course we expected that but you won’t get the  faster charge like you will with the 15 watt  magsafe charger if you’re using this so you’ll  just get a little bit better speed with this  now as far as the colors of course they’re very  nice it does have some lay on the table protection.

There’s a little bit of a rim here to protect the  front of the phone if you’re not using a screen  protector and one of the nice things with the  iphone 12 and 12 pro when you are using a screen  protector the screen protector is usually flat  and goes edge to edge so you don’t even really  know you’re using it its really nice now also  lets take a closer look at this leather wallet  so well open this up here and I haven’t seen  one of these in person this is the first time  I’m opening it inside the box we’ve got some  paperwork same sort of idea as we get with the  cases and then inside here I guess we push up here  inside here it just shows you can put these  your cards in there and this does have  shielding for your cards because there’s  magnets in here it shouldn’t erase your cards or  anything like that because it will shield them  from the magnets in here so if you want to match  the saddle brown with it of course that’s going to  look really nice it’s not stuck on their terribly  hard so it is easy to get off and I’m thinking.

iPhone 12 and iPhone 12 Pro Leather Cases with MagSafe
That’s on purpose so that you can put it on  there when you want to use the phone like this so  if you want to put it on the back of the blue  case put it on there when you’re using the phone  and it recognized that as well so let me show  you that so as soon as I put the wallet on it  recognized that there’s a wallet and it had kind  of a neat animation I’ll do that one more time and you’ll see its sort of the same size so the  nice thing is in here there’s a magnetometer and   it recognizes what’s being attached to it so  I think it’s on purpose that it doesn’t hang on  there very tightly it will hold up to about three  cards so let me try that so I have my apple card  which is highly stained from a previous wallet  and then I’ve got two tesla keys to my tesla.

So let’s go ahead and place these in and  they seem to fit just fine now if you put  these on here like I said if you were using this  I think its fine but to slide it into a pocket I  don’t think it’s going to take a whole lot to  knock these off its not on their very tight  so that’s one thing that you may or may not like  I think the idea is to just use it like this  you are going to have to take it off when you want  to charge anyway so you can’t use it that way and  then when you want to get your cards out you can  just slide them up it works pretty good and I think it’s nice it’s not for everyone but I know  some people that really like minimal wallets and  this may work great for them but again it’s not  going to stay super secure on here its more for  when I think you’re using the phone so that makes  more sense to me anyway now as far as the magnets  within the wallet themselves well I think that’s  like I said there’s that bottom line to keep it.

from rotating so if I take this off here take a  look with the magnet paper you can see you do have  that line on the bottom of it so let me flip it  over there’s a little bit less glare you can see  the line on the bottom there and then if I bring  it to the front let me take the cards out here  and set those aside and see if we have any  magnets on the front so they’ve shielded I’m  not I’m not picking up any magnets whatsoever on  the front so they’ve shielded it somehow using  the internal lining of the leather to keep you  from having magnetic fields get to your card so  that’s pretty nice that they’ve been able to do  that now as far as all of the different cases  they feel great they are a little bit more  slippery than the silicone case but they do.

Feel more premium than the silicone case as well  of course if you don’t want leather you have the  silicone option or third-party options as well  and again they’re available for the mini the 12  the 12 pro and the 12 pro mac so all the same  cost for all the ones you get I picked these up  at the local apple store as they were available  today and so I think they look pretty good let  me know what color you like in the comments below  and if you’re picking up a leather case from apple  or sticking with another brand case I’d love to  hear from you there as well if you’d like to get  your hands on the wallpaper.

The AdLib Gold Experience

Greetings folks, and today on LGR I am proud to present the fabled AdLib Gold 1000 Stereo Sound Adapter. An IBM PC-compatible sound card which, after multiple delays, launched at a suggested price of $299 in the US sometime in late 1992. More or less, its release is a bit complicated but we’ll get to that. For now lemme just go ahead and say how much I’m freak in’ out with excitement recording this footage. Cuz dude, seeing an AdLib Gold in person, still in the box, unused? Among retro PC enthusiasts, that’s like finding a golden unicorn that craps diamonds, it’s just not a thing. Yet here it is, looking’ spiffy! And it’s all thanks to Trixter, aka Jim Leonard of The Old-school PC, Check out his YouTube channel if you’re into this kind of thing too, the man’s a fountain of knowledge and some of the items in his collection are literally one of a kind. Not the least of which being this pristine AdLib Gold 1000, a card that I’ve been wondering about ever since I was eight years old lookin...

Apple Keyboard Evolution 1983-2015

I don’t have a Lisa Keyboard, and they’re quite rare and expensive. But here’s what it looked like, it was quite large and clunky. Although not really any wider than a modern Apple keyboard . So, this is the original Macintosh keyboard. It’s kind of tall, and notice that it has no arrow keys, no function keys and no number pad. Apparently, Steve Jobs believed that everybody would use the mouse for everything, except typing. It uses an RJ-11 type connector, similar to a phone cord. The mouse actually had its own separate connector, and did not connect to the keyboard at all. This is about as basic as it gets. I can plug my telephone into it, for some reason. So, one thing I noticed about this is that there are no indicators on where to put your fingers. I’ve never heard a keyboard echo before. It’s not real springy or anything. It does have… …metallic kind of noise to it. But, DAVID: This is the Apple Desktop Bus keyboard. As the name suggests, this was the first keyboard to use the new...

IBM 8516 Touchscreen CRT Monitor

Greetings and welcome to LGR Oddware where were taking a look at hardware and software that is odd, forgotten, and obsolete! And today it is the IBM 8516 CRT touchscreen from the beginning of the 1990s. And yeah you can touch and draw and do all kinds of things that you would normally do with a mouse or light pen or whatever else -- just with your fingers! And so let’s see what this thing is and what it can do. All right so this is the IBM PS/2 Model 8516 13-inch CRT touchscreen monitor first introduced in June of 1991 for a suggested retail price of $1695 US dollars, holy crap. That would be almost $3,100 at the time of this recording, not a cheap price for a 13-inch VGA monitor back then.  It was built by IBM to be compatible with PCs running DOS, Windows 3 -- and IBM OS/2 of course, because they were still pushing it rather hard when this came out. And as advanced and awesome as it was for its time it was not the first of its kind as far as touchscreen CRTs, not by a long shot....

The best gaming laptop for MS-DOS games

The other day, I used to be reading this old Computes Gazette magazine from 1983. and that I saw this card you'll send off for more information. happen if I filled it out and sent it off? Well, stick around till the top and I'll show you the result. Most of the time, stepping into Retro Gaming are often quite challenge. Even the old Atari 2600 her, for instance, it are often very challenging to seek out a contemporary TV or monitor that you simply. On the brilliant side, the games are pretty easy to affect. All you've got to try to to is locate them online, or thrift shop, or whatever and you purchase the sport, and you recognize, But, things get even harder once you start watching old computers. For instance, the Commodore 64 uses a disk format that's essentially foreign today.  It's no means to attach to the web, and albeit you've got a pile of blank disks, getting the games copied over to them from the web could be a nightmare. Now, if you fast forward just a...

Strangest Computer Designs of the '80s

OMG Mr. LGR!!! You made my day showing the Seiko computer watch series. I collect these things and Have almost  the entire lineup up including the weird UC-2200. The only one I'm missing is the "wrist mac" which was essentially a Seiko RC4400 but marketed and sold for Apple. It could be considered the first apple watch! That design for the Elwro-800 actually seems pretty good and I wish I had it for the C64 back in the day. That wire holder could have been used for holding a computer magazine with a user made program which they always had in the magazines back in the day. Even now it would be good for data input from a written copy, or even writers who like to get their pre-writing done on paper. They were the machines we were taught Turing language on -- and compiling even a tiny Turing program on them was unbelievably slow.  I really liked the GUI on them though, but we never really used the GUI much; all the programming we did was in a text file run through a compiler ...

The Advantech I.Q. Unlimited with BASIC and a Z80 CPU.

Hello, and welcome back to the 8-Bit Guy. In this episode, I want to show you this bizarre little computer known as the IQ Unlimited by Advantech. Now, you might be wondering “What is this company Advantech?” Well, if you turn the computer over you’ll see it was actually produced by Video Technology Electronics, otherwise known as V-Tech.” Yes, that’s the same V-Tech that has produced tons of cordless telephones, kids learning computers, baby monitors, and a variety of other things. They are also the ones that built the Laser 128, which was an Apple II clone, along with the matching Laser XT which was a PC clone. They also produced the laser line of portable computers, and even a series of proprietary desktop computers that carried the laser brand name. So, needless to say V-Tech is no stranger to making computers. But, I think this may be the strangest one they ever made. The front of the box claims it to be complete, powerful, simple, and affordable. They are also those that built th...

Words of Krom Ngoy

Words of Kram Ngoy This Brahma song is translated to tell Khmer men and women To be mindful should be diligent. Do not be lazy, do not be too stupid, try to learn numbers, learn the alphabet Learn all the virtues, supernatural wisdom combined with ideas. Born to see through, even from afar           Really good at thinking about everything. Fools do not wake up like blind people on both sides           There is no image of a cheap sinner born ignorant. The human race, though high and low, descended from the Pao clan.           Evil, good, black and white, cut off descendants like ancestors. Ignorant people are not venerated as a religion           The monks know the Dharma, the students study hard. The ignorant breed is not very wise, the crooked breed is not very gentle           Straight seed until the true seed does not disappear. Innoc...

Fast roaming OpenWrt Wi-Fi Access points

Before we start let me do a test. I have my  phone here which measures my Wi-Fi speed and  another phone which I use as a camera in  the other hand. I start on the 2nd floor  where I have an access point. As you can see speed  is quite OK. It won’t go much higher because I  capped it. I’ll explain in a second. Let me start  moving towards the staircase to the 1st floor.  As I do that you can see that the speed goes  down while I walk down the stairs until it starts  moving back up because I picked up the signal  from the 2nd access point here on the first floor.  Let me keep moving down to the basement. It’s  all concrete here so Wi-Fi gets weakened a lot.   But it doesn’t take long until I  get closer to the 3rd access point  here in the basement and speed picks up.  Walking back upstairs - same scenario.  How do I do that so seamlessly without  interruption of signal ? Is it a  Mes...

Will Kill Your Computer

Hey guys, this is Austin, and this is the USB Killer. Now, it might not look like much, however this will straight up kill your computer. So, this is a device that’s used to test hardware, so while it looks like an ordinary USB device, instead, there’s a series of capacitors inside. So, if you plug it into a computer, it will charge those capacitors up, and once they’re full it turns around and releases all of that power at 240 volts straight back into the computer, in theory killing it. It doesn’t take much to be able to pop this thing open. Now, before we proceed: Do not try this at home. Seriously. Not only is it very possible for this thing to kill electronics, but it’s also. And by being careful, I mean don’t try this at home. We have an Asus Chrome book.  Now, USB Killer claims that this is going to work on around 95 percent of computers, and the reason for that is that while some computers have properly capped USB ports, most have completely unprotected ports, which means th...
